This project is something I have been meaning to make for a while now. Thanks to one of those gel ice packs busting open I knew I needed to do these now. So I am finally able to cross it off of my To Make List. YAY!! I don't know what took me so long to make them. You can whip a bunch up super fast!
Supplies Needed:
- Fabric Scraps
- Scissors
- Thread
- Rice
- Sewing Machine
For each bag you will need TWO 4" x 4" squares.
Lay one on top of the other with right sides together. Stitch with a 1/2" seam allowance.
Make sure to leave an opening to turn it.
Clip all four corners.
Turn right side out. Using a funnel fill the bag with rice.
Stitch the opening closed and your done.

Flannel fabric is perfect for this. It's soft and you can feel the cold rice through it.
The minky fabric is sooo snuggly but it doesn't feel as cold through this fabric.
I put them in the fridge, but I think I'm gonna put them in the freezer and see how they are.
I let you know how the freezer works!
See you tomorrow!

Great idea, we just had a few gel bags explode too, and with spring coming we'll be outside a lot and I'm sure my little monster and his gracefulness will get a lot of use out of these. Oh, and we have the exact same spiderman fabric!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your boo boo bags! I have made some myself & they are always a huge hit. I vote freezer--that's where ours live. They stay cold that way for a good 15-20 minutes. Smooches!
ReplyDeleteVery neat!! Something cute and very useful, I love it!! Thanks for sharing. :)
