First I want to thank y'all for sweet comments about my slippers.
A few of you asked for a tutorial. I regret that I won't be able to do that. Don't be sad.....I used a pattern.
It is Simplicity 2278. It has adult and baby sizes.
It wouldn't be right for me to give out a pattern that I purchased and claim it as my own.
If you do buy the pattern I would love to do a sew along here.
I have some tips and suggestions to share that I think make them better.
Speaking of patterns......
There are 2 things I really don't like about using patterns.
1. Cutting them out. When I purchase patterns I try to cut them out within a few days.
I know if I don't they won't get used! If I am ready to sew something and I pull out the pattern and it has to be cut I'll find another similar pattern or just do something totally different.
2. I don't like to spend time pinning the pattern to the fabric I'm using. It takes to much time. I always end up having to repin it at least twice because of wrinkles or it's not straight on the grain of the fabric.
I finally decidedto do something about it.
I didn't take step by step pictures, but it is soooo simple.
I bought some washer at Home Depot. They are 5/8" galvanized. They were $0.40 each.
I cut circles out of scrapbook paper to fit each washer.
Next I glued the circles to the washer and let it dry.
Next you are going to cover the paper with an even coat of Mod Podge Dimensional Magic.
Let it dry on a flat surface.
Once they are dry they are ready for use.
I like using them because they hold the pattern in place, but they are easy to move when I need to adjust the pattern.
Thanks to my pretty pattern weights I think I will be using patterns more often now!

Great idea!
Thanks for sharing! These are awesome. :-)
Now that IS brilliant! And so much more fun that boring straight pins!
Tomorrow is 99cent pattern day at Joanns on simplicity I am adding the slippers so you'll have to help me!!
BTW pattern weights..genius
So that is what you do with pattern weights! I never realized it was to hold the pattern to the fabric. Thanks for the great pics. New follower.

Oooo I want to make these!!!!! When I first starting sewing I felt all communal with my grandma's spirit, pinning down my patterns nice and neat. Now I grumble and curse and HATE it but don't want to spend the $$$ on the wts. at Joann's. I think I'll be stopping by the Depot on my way home tonight :)
wow. what a great idea. I always pin my patterns, but this seems so much better.
