Garden Party Dress

I saw a dress in a Garnet Hill catalog a while back and I instantly loved it.  My first thought was that Aiyanna really needs this dress.  Then I saw the $89 price tag. *GASP*  Ok now I really need to figure out how to make it myself because Aiyanna really needs this dress.  I realized it's really just an embellished pillowcase dress. OK, I can do that.  Let's give it a shot.

It's not identical to the one in the catalog, but it's pretty darn close.

First just make a basic pillowcase dress.  The only difference is the finished tie should be 4" wide.

For the pink flowers I used this tutorial at Sew Much Ado. You will need a total of 8 pink flowers.

For the big white circles here's what you do:

Cut 5 large circles with a 6" diameter
Cut 5 medium circles with a 4.5" diameter
Cut 5 small circles with 3" diameter

Serger or use a tight zigzag stitch around the edges.  Stack 1 large, medium, and small circle together.

Here is where you need to place them on your dress.

To sew them to the dress I just sewed an X through the middle of the circles.

Tack the pink rose in the middle of the big white circles.
Tack the 3 left over pink roses to the top part of the dress and you're done.

This dress is perfect for having a tea party

or picking some

and just looking cute!

I'm happy cause I love the dress and Aiyanna does too.  My husband is happy because it didn't cost $89.  I already had everything on hand.

Now go take some time to stop and smell the flowers!!!!
