Corded Pintucks Tutorial

I had a request for a tutorial for corded pin tucks. Here it finally is!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• Fabric
• Water soluble marking pin
• Ruler
• Cord 
• Thread
• Sewing Machine
• Pin tuck foot

 

Mark your fabric where you want your pintucks to be.

 I made them 1/2" apart. You can make them as close or as far apart as you want them to be.

I also marked a vertical line where I want them to stop.

Here is the cord I used. It is made by Mettler. I believe it can be found at Joann's, Hancocks, Smock Shops, or Quilting shops.

Here is what a pin tuck foot looks like. They come in 5 or 7 grooves.

Lay a piece of cord on one of the lines you drew. I always like to start in the middle but you can start on the end. This is just the way I like to do it.

Fold the fabric so that the cord is "inside".  Put the fabric under the presser foot.  Make sure the cord goes into a grove on the pin tuck foot and the needle is close to the cord.

 

Sew. Here is how the back will look.

Here's how the front looks.

Repeat with the remaining lines.
