There's Still Time!!!

To whip up a couple of these cute TURKEY PLACE MATS for the kids. They are sure to be a hit!!!! 

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

• Pattern pieces {HERE}
• Fabric for feathers
• Fabric for the back
• Scrap of brown fabric for the body
• Scrap of yellow for the arms
• Scrap of white, black and orange for eyes and a beak
• Red rick rack
• Scrap of yellow felt
• Fusible webbing (Wonder Under)
• Fusible medium weight interfacing
• Fray Check
• Thread
• Scissors
• Sewing machine

Following manufacturers directions apply fusible webbing to the body, arms, eyes, and beak.

Trace the pattern pieces onto the paper backing.

Cut out and remove paper backing.

Apply fray check on the edges of the fabric pieces.

Cut out pattern piece A for the feathers and the back of the place mat.

Apply fusible interfacing.

Position arms and body on to the feather piece and iron in place

.

Apply eyes and beak the same way.

Here's how it will look.

Top stitch around the body, arms, eye, and beak.

Lay the backing on top of the turkey with right sides together.

Sew 1/4" from edge. Leave an opening so you can flip it.

Clip the curves.

Turn right sides out and top stitch 1/8" from the edge.

Draw lines as shown above to separate the feathers.

Stitch on the lines.

Cut 2 rectangles from the yellow felt.

1" long x 1/2" wide.

Pin them onto the turkey hands. Make sure they are arched a little.

Stitch in place using a tight zig zag stitch..

Hot glue on a little piece of red rick rack to the beak.

Add a fork and knife and let the turkey eating begin!!!
