Pocket Purse
You can whip up this cute little purse for your favorite little girl in no time!!!
Supplies Needed:
Pocket from jeans
Scrap of denim
Ribbon
Jeans Thread
Here is a pocket I saved while doing the ZigZag Jeans Quilt. I just cut around the pocket so the jeans fabric is still behind the pocket. Leave at least 1/2" tab above the top of the pocket.
From the front of the jeans I cut 2 pieces for the flap. You will need to cut it 1/2" wider than your pocket.
Put right sides together and sew using 1/4"hem. Clip corners, turn, and iron.
Fold under the raw edge1/4". Slide the tab into the flap and pin
Grab some ribbon for your strap. I used grosgrain ribbon that is 28" long.
I wanted my daughter to be able to wear it over her shoulder. You could make it shorter so they can carry it by the strap. It's up to you.
Tuck the ribbon inside the flap with the tab. Pin in place.
Turn it over and make sure that it's not pinned shut and you can open your pocket.
Top stitch the flap 1/4" from the edge. Stitch again 1/4" from first stitching line.
Aiyanna's happy to have a new purse. I'm happy because now I don't have to worry
about her losing...her change
and her notebook that she has to take with her when we go to the store.
I bet you can guess what I'll be making after they go to bed tonight!
So cute! I love strap!
