Toddler Wallet

Dakota gets an allowance for putting the forks and napkins on the table and helping me with a few other things around the house. When we go to the store he likes to carry his money in his pocket but somehow it never seems to stay put.  I figured it was time for him to have a wallet, but the store bought wallets are too big to fit in his little pockets plus they are just plain boring.  So I decided to make him one using some fabric he chose a few months ago.

Supplies Needed:
  • 1/8 yard fabric of choice
  • Scrap fabric in coordinating color
  • Fusible interfacing
  • Thread
  • Sewing Machine
From fabric cut a square 7" x 7"
Also cut a rectangle 7" x 3.5"

From coordinating fabric cut a rectangle 7" x 3.5"

Cut 2 pieces of fusible interfacing 7" x 3.5"
Apply fusible webbing to the rectangle pieces of fabric following manufactures directions.

Fold the square fabic in half and top stitch at fold.  Lay on top of the coordinating fabric.
Make sure they match up at the bottom. The coordinating fabric will be a little taller.

Baste around the the sides and bottom.  DO NOT baste at the top.

Here's what it should look like. ( You can click on the picture to make it bigger)

Lay the other fabric traingle on top of the pieces you basted.

Sew around all sides using a 1/4" seam.  Leave a 2" opening for turning it out.

Clip the corners.

Turn right side out.

Iron it then top stitch.  Fold it in half and iron the fold.

Dakota is LOVING his new wallet. I love not having to worry about his money falling out of his pockets.

These would make a great gift!  Just add some money or even a gift card will fit in it!

Any questions just ask. I'll be happy to help!!!!
