I love to dress the kids in clothes for each holiday with matching hair bows for Aiyanna, of course. I saw some turkey hair bows made completely of ribbon. I thought it was cute, but the $6 price tag wasn't so cute. I knew I could make one almost as cute.So when I got home I made one. I actually like mine better. And the price on mine was 1 alligator clip and a pair of google eyes. Everything else came from my scraps!!!
Want to make one for a special little girl in your life?
Here's how!
Supplies Needed:
Brown felt
Orange felt
Red, orange, and yellow ribbon
Fabric glue
Google eyes
Alligator clip or barrette
Brown thread
Cut 2 bodies out of brown felt. Also cut a tiny triangle from orange felt for the beak.
Cut strip of red, orange and yellow ribbon 2 1/2" long.
Put a dot of fabric glue on the end of the ribbon.
Fold the ribbon so the ends meet. I like to use hair clips to hold the ends together until the glue dries.
After the glue dries add a dot of glue to the end and attach it to the body.
Repeat with all of the ribbons
Lay the other body on top and pin.
Sew or hand stitch close to the edge.
Trim the body so the stitching is 1/8" from the edge.
Glue on the eyes and nose.
Glue the turkey onto a hair clip or barrette and give it to your favorite little girl!.
If you don't have ribbon that's okay. Make the turkey feathers out of felt.
