The Prairie Dress

I love how this project turned out!!!  The skirt fabric is so light and airy it's perfect for these super hot days we are having right now.  I made the skirt a little long so she can wear it next year too.  Let's get the supplies together and get started.

Supplies Needed:

  • Too short tank top

  • 1/2 yard of fabric for skirt

  • Thread

  • Scissors

  • Sewing Machine

Cut the fabric into strips. The smaller one is 6" wide and the larger one is 13" wide.

Fold the strip of fabric in half right sides together. Sew raw edge making a tube.

Do the same thing with the short strip. Next hem. I folded mine 1/2" and then another 1/2" and sewed.

Gather the short tube. Sew a long stitch 1/2" from edge and then sew another long stitch 1/4" from the first one.

Pin to the longer tube making sure the seams match.

Sew.

This is what it will look like.

Gather the top of the long tube.

Pin and sew it to the tank top.

I added a little daisy to the tank to complete the look.

I have another awesome dress tutorial coming this week that you won't want to miss!!!!
